The project involved with the renovation and conversion of a 200year old mill building into an bar and nightclub. The brief is to renovate the existing bar & restaurant and to extend the premises into the adjacent 19th Century, 5 storey stone mill building. The bar is one of the most popular pubs in the west of Ireland.
The scheme revolves around the outdoor courtyard and attempts to create a ‘vineyard of people’ with a covered performance area for live entertainment. The existing bar is a series of interconnected spaces and the proposed design seeks to create a labyrinthine series of spaces and journeys with a sense of drama throughout. The aspiration is to build on the simple, honest expression of the existing building’s exposed stonework and steel structures.
The value of the project is €1.5million.
