Competition for a retirement Home Norway

This was the winning entry for a competition in Mogrenda in the North of Norway. The rules did not state how many designs each candidate could submit so this was one of two entries made by the architect.

The idea was to great a sheltered space or ‘tun’ in the middle of the 14 houses. Each of the dwellings has a small, private, easily maintained external area. Each house is designed with the Norwegian ‘Hus Bank’ standards.

The pockets of parking are kept outside the central garden space. Access from the parking to the front door of each unit is under the shelter of the roof which unites the dwellings. This minimizes the work required to clear the show during the winter.
